Sunnie Hunnie Oat Bites is a Top 14 Allergen-Friendly snack line that meets the needs of consumers with and without food allergies.

Our story began in 1998 as a local coffee shop serving in-house baked goods with artisanal coffee from freshly roasted beans. We quickly learned the value of bringing people together to socialize, and how food and beverage helped connections to flourish and flow.

When Covid hit, we made the hard shift to a wholesale bakery business model and leaned solely on our allergen-friendly offerings. Our first wholesale account was a local grocery store who was gracious enough to give us a shelf space. We began testing the CPG market with our different bakery options from cakes, cookies and oat bites. What we noticed was our Oat Bites were an easy "grab and go" convenient solution for consumers. Shoppers purchased the Oat Bites as an everyday healthy snacking option the whole family can enjoy.

The Sunnie Hunnie brand was developed to showcase our Oat Bites as a delicious, nutritious snack with simple, clean, all natural, non-GMO, superfood ingredients free from gluten, dairy, preservatives and all the junk. Our snacks are perfect for people with dietary restrictions, as well as those who are health-conscious or simply looking for a tasty snack they can feel good about!

Our founders, Ron Laser and Esther Hoogendoorn, are local loving people with an appetite for making more room at the table for those living with food allergies and dietary preferences.

They have served their community by adding support to organizations who serve children and families that need an extra hand. It has always been their belief that helping those in need is a part of a higher purpose in life. We are more alike than different. We all want the safety of good health, to be loved, and to belong.

Ron created an independent coffee shop in his early 20’s and over the years has enjoyed serving his community with a spot that nourishes the soul. He enjoys traveling with hopes for many more trips. He also loves to ski and get out on his motorcycle. Esther joined him in managing the social spot and unleashed her creative soul and gift for bringing people together. She too loves to ride her Harley, spend time with friends and family, and travel to the coastlines of the world.

When Esther developed adult onset allergies, she turned her discouragement of a new food limitation into an outlet for creativity. She decided to go play in the kitchen and learn about Celiac's disease so that she could create recipes her soul could connect to again. She created offerings that helped people with food allergies love their food and be reminded that life can still be amazing.

One of our guiding principles is to ensure our sustainable snacks are easily enjoyed by those with or without food allergies. The more delicious our snacks are, the less marginalized a person with food allergies feels. Feeling ostracized in life is damaging to the soul, but eating together nourishes the soul.
